For Christians, Jews and all others that study the Bible do you study the History of that time as well?
st_louis_cardsfan asked:
Take college classes or check out World History books from the Library? I try to learn as much about the world history at the time of the Bible as I can. I promise each person reading the Bible that if they will check out books on Greek and Roman cultures and history of 2000-3000 years ago you will GREATLY be able to understand some of the wordings of the New Testament. Now for the Old Testament it is good to learn Jewish, Hebrew history and culture (outside of the Bible), Assyrian, Babylonian, and Persian cultures as well. Learn about Sargon, Xerxes, and Nebuchadnezzar (outside of what the Bible says). You will find that what you learn from History books helps you to make more sense of what is in the Bible. Who agrees with me and who applies these study methods?
A good book to read is “The Faith”. This is a History of Christianity.

Is there an infinitive of “to be” in Hebrew? If not, what to you use idomatically instead?
Sandwich asked:
I learned that there are only past and future tenses of the verb “to be,” and you omit it in the present tense. For example, “Ani hayiti ba’bait” (I WAS in the house), “Ani ehiyeh ba’bait” (I WILL BE in the house), and “Ani ba’bait” (I — in the house). I know that is all true, because in Jewish culture only G-d IS.
But what if I wanted to say “I want TO BE in the house.” Would there be an infinitive form of to be? Like, “Ani rotzeh _______ ba’bait.” Or would you instead say “Ani rotzeh she’ani ba’bait.” (I want that I — in the house). Or something else?
What if you wanted to ask somebody, “What do you want to be?” where there is no object for the infinitive?
I know how to conjugate other verbs. The only thing I need to know is whether or not there is an infinitive for “to be” and if I should use it or instead use the future tense.

How come Christians don’t use the original Hebrew bible but they MADE an old testament to suit their?
Cat asked:
new testament and new religion?
That’s RIGHT Christians, your old testament is NOT the original Tanakh , hebrew bible used by the Jews.
Your Church has mistranslated and reorganized the takanh to make it fit better with your new testament.
All the Jewish prophesies do not coincide with your Jesus
this are the prophesies your JESUS did not fulfill
Judaism teaches that the messiah will fulfill the following prophecies:
* The Sanhedrin will be re-established (Isaiah 1:26)
* Once he is King, leaders of other nations will look to him for guidance. (Isaiah 2:4)
* The whole world will worship the One God of Israel (Isaiah 2:17)
* He will be descended from King David (Isaiah 11:1) via King Solomon (1 Chron. 22:8-10)
* The Moshiach will be a man of this world, an observant Jew with “fear of God” (Isaiah 11:2)
* Evil and tyranny will not be able to stand before his leadership (Isaiah 11:4)
* Knowledge of God will fill the world (Isaiah 11:9)
* He will include and attract people from all cultures and nations (Isaiah 11:10)
* All Israelites will be returned to their homeland (Isaiah 11:12)
* Death will be swallowed up forever (Isaiah 25:8)
* There will be no more hunger or illness, and death will cease (Isaiah 25:8)
* All of the dead will rise again (Isaiah 26:19)
* The Jewish people will experience eternal joy and gladness (Isaiah 51:11)
* He will be a messenger of peace (Isaiah 52:7)
* Nations will end up recognizing the wrongs they did to Israel (Isaiah 52:13-53:5)
* The peoples of the world will turn to the Jews for spiritual guidance (Zechariah 8:23)
* The ruined cities of Israel will be restored (Ezekiel 16:55)
* Weapons of war will be destroyed (Ezekiel 39:9)
* The Temple will be rebuilt (Ezekiel 40) resuming many of the suspended mitzvot
* He will then perfect the entire world to serve God together (Zephaniah 3:9)
* Jews will know the Torah without Study (Jeremiah 31:33)
* He will give you all the desires of your heart (Psalms 37:4)
* He will take the barren land and make it abundant and fruitful (Isaiah 51:3, 9:13-15, Ezekiel 36:29-30, Isaiah 11:6-9)
@ JOHN D
you are very IGNORANT ABOUT THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS, they prove the opposite of what you have said!

MARTY,
what the TALMUD has gotten anything to do with Jesus and the supposed to be fulfilled prophesies?
WHAT THE HECK HAS THE TALMUD GOTTEN TO DO WITH ANYTHING?
I am talking about the TANAKH, NOT TALMUD.
THE TANAKH IS THE ORIGINAL HEBREW BIBLE.
WHAT IN THE WORLD WHAT YOU HAVE POSTED HAS GOTTEN ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING!?

Should we make Hebrew or Yiddish a National language?
Akim K asked:
There are around 6 million Jewish people, who practice their religion, in the United States. There are more than 10 million Jewish people, who don’t practice but consider themselves as Jewish. By the year of 2015 Jewish people will be the biggest minority group in the United States. And, considering very good relationships between Israel and the United States, we could propagate our language and culture further.

Do you only believe in what science can prove?
Sutaato asked:
People often say there is no scientific proof God existed but now they are finding all sorts of things from events mentioned in the Bible. Muslim areas have been very protective of launching archeologists into areas where they believe they could find artificats from Biblical times. Also they’ve found chariot wheels along with horse and human bones from Eyptian soldiers at the bottom of the Red Sea. They found Hebrew inscriptions of the 10 Commandments dated 2500-3000 years ago on a mountain is Los Lunas, Mexico which is several thousand years before anyone discovered America. Even Cherokees show similar signs of Jewish culture in theirs and it’s entirely possible that they could have been influenced by Jews arriving in Mexico. There’s proof out there. So why do all these scientists think God doesn’t exist?
I can’t sit here and type 50 million pages. I have a 1000 character word length. Point is that evidence of Biblical events are in the world.
I said the Cherokees culture have Jewish influences.

Why do people expect Hispanics to abandon their heritage to live in the US?
Pamela asked:
We didn’t expect that of any other immigrants. Take a walk in NYC. Visit Chinatown. Does it look “American” to you? Go see Little Italy. How “American” is that? Walk through the Jewish community or the Irish section. You will hear Chinese spoken, Italian, Hebrew. You will see their homes & shops decorated & adorned as they were in their homelands. Why then do we expect the Hispanics to completely abandon their language, their heritage and their culture and in a sense, deny their homeland, to come live here?
Amy G….that’s my point. And now we are discriminating against the new wave of immigrants…the Americans of tomorrow.
GreenlYD….But I see so many people in this forum complaining about people flying Mexican flags & speaking Spanish etc. I keep reading how if they really wanted to be “American” they would adopt our culture & our way of life. Why should they have to?
trakslag…so we should go into Chinatown & remove all the flags or into Little Italy & remove those as well? Or the Israeli flag? We should take them down & demand that only ours be raised. Sounds sort of communist to me.
Just Trying to Help….last time I checked no one was handing out citizenship to Hispanic immigrants upon arrival - legal OR illegal. Of course they must learn English to pass the test but is it really right that we expect them to know it when they get here? I don’t think our ancestors did.
Sir Shaggy…hate to burst your bubble there but they did NOT all come here legally. In fact, I don’t recall ever seeing anything about the Pilgrims having visas. I don’t recall them asking the Native Americans first if they could come & kick them off of their own land.
Earl of Trollshire….so you don’t think the Native Americans felt IMPOSED upon when YOUR ancestors arrived?
caciansf…and if you were around in the 60’s you would have been b*tching about the streets being name Martin Luther King. It’s not such a big deal now is it? Just like the Hispanic named streets you struggle to pronounce won’t be such a bing d@mn deal in the future. Why can’t we just learn from our past mistakes? Why must we keep making the same ones over & over? You showed a prime example of this in your answer.

Where can I learn Hebrew?
Richard A asked:
I am very interested in learning about Jewish spiritualism. Even though I’m born a gentile, I am very interested in Judaism. The culture speaks to me personally. I was just wondering if there is some online program where I can learn Hebrew? And is Judaism compatible with Buddhism? I have read that it is, and that is another culture that speaks to me on a personal level. I am very interestd in Reform Judaism for those that want to know. Any hel would be very nice, thanks.

How does one know the trut via Judaism vs. Christianity?
Jonny asked:
I don’t feel like I can trust either the Christian or Jew apologist because I know one of them is wrong but they both have good points. This means I must do all research on my own.
I must learn the Hebrew languange including culture etc., Jewish history, the history of the world from at least 500 years before and after Jesus, may as well through in Greek and Arabic language, become a Biblical scholar etc. This is impossible in one life time!
Second option is to pray to God. Only problem is most of the world prays to God and most of the world does not know truth about God because everyone can’t be right.
Genuine desire to know truth doesn’t even help much because I think that most Jews and Christians do want to know truth but they have come to different conclusions.
Can we really know truth????

I finallly finishe a story that I like! Come in and tell me what you think. (Yes Its LGBT.)?
Prss. maddie asked:
The story of Lilith.
Child, My name is Lilith and I want to tell you a story. Perhaps you have heard of me, I was the first wife of Adam. It is taught by the folklore of the Jewish culture that I insisted on being on top when me and Adam were to… You know…. Do it and that G-D cast me out for that. That is untrue. It is also taught that I was concubine to Baazelbub and mother to all demons. That is untrue.
Here is what happened, Many years in the garden of Eden my new husband and I decided to search the garden. On the very edge of the garden I saw a woman who was as beautiful as any flower in the garden. She had dark ebony skin and hair the colour of night. She had big beautiful wings. She introduced herself as Ariza a name meaning in the Hebrew language, Door. I told her that I was Adam’s wife, not worth a name, barley worth a soul. That is what Adam told me god had said. Ariza said I was worth a name and named me Lilith. She sealed the naming with a kiss on the lips.
I did not return to Adam, he made me feel worthless like a small stone on the longest road. G-d understood how I felt and made Adam another wife, Eve. I pitied that woman, Adam slapped her, beat her up and G-d did nothing. When I asked G-d why she did nothing for Eve he told me because she didn’t ask. I asked so she sent me Ariza to be my companion.
Eve didn’t think Adam’s abuse was wrong or bad, He had brainwashed her. She felt she was worthless too. I cried whenever I saw my sister in pain I felt her pain myself from back when Adam hit me. I had to do something, find some way to make them equal, So I transformed into a snake and went to the forbidden tree and said to Adam as he passed (Not to Eve as the religious texts state.) and told him to eat the fruit, I lied and told him I had already had some. He took a bite and then picked a whole bunch and brought them to Eve giving her just one a very small one but gobbling down the rest himself. Eve didn’t eat till Adam told her to.
He didn’t tell her to for a long time. First he made her go make clothes after seeing they were nude. Then after the day it took eve to do that he let her eat only half the fruit. That is when G-d threw them out of the garden. But since Eve only ate half the fruit she had less guilt for what she had done which was little. She wasn’t punished much by G-d and was in fact rewarded by her with a longer life (which is why women live longer) and she no longer thought she was nothing. I wasn’t punished by G-d for tricking Eve and My ex husband.
I still live in this garden with my bride Ariza watching all these woman suffering pain because of the same reason Eve suffered, fearful men. I am happy here, my bride and I have three children, two sons, One named Ari and the other named Caleb and one small daughter named Aviva. We are happy here and I know some day you all will be too.
