what is the significance of?

i just learned that i have Jewish ancesters and i’m very intrested in learning about Jewish culture/religion/traditions. what is the significance of:
1. the yamica (forgive me for my misspelling)
2. the western wall/wailling wall
3. having a “given name” and a “hebrew name”
any other information you think is relavent will also be appriciated!

I think you should know that just because you have jewish ancestors, doesn’t necessarily make you jewish. You should consult with an orthodox rabbi (try chabad) to find out for sure.
1. the yarmulka (aka “kipa”) is a sign of reverence for G-d who is above us. Only men, though, wear it. (It is an extention of a law regarding head covering during prayer. technical stuff.)
2. It is the remaining wall of the Holy Temple, the place where G-d chose to most manifest his presence and the place to which we were instructed to face during prayer. (we’re not worshipping the rocks; it is somewhat symbolic. Kinda like saluting a flag.)
3. hebrew names are used for jewish customs. for example, on a marriage contract or being prayed for.
try checking out a jewish website. is a good one.
